Alice Merta 02/12/2016

Alice Merta, age 93 of River Falls, died on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.  Alice was born the daughter of John and Mary (Kordiski) Pechacek on March 22, 1922.  She was married to Edward Merta on October 30, 1945.  They farmed together.  Alice was an active member of Cherma Church.  She enjoyed gardening and being a mother and grandmother.  She was a happy person, who had very positive influence on those around her.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Merta; and brothers, Lud and Fred Pechacek.  Alice is survived by her children, Jerry (Carol) Merta, Mary Merta, Donald (June) Merta, and Robert Merta; grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Merta, Joe (April) Merta, Valerie (Adam) Ripley, Dan (Heather) Merta and Laura (Lance) Place; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 7 pm at St. Bridget Church in River Falls.  Memorial Visitation was also Friday from 5-7 pm at the church.  Spring Interment will be in Cherma Cemetery.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls.
