Alice May Johnson age 99 of New Richmond died peacefully on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the Deerfield Gables Care Center. She was born on November 10, 1913 to Albert Scott and Estella (Johnson) Thompson in Belvidere Mills, MN. The family moved to Ellsworth, WI in 1920. Alice attended Ellsworth public school 12 years and River Falls Normal School for a teaching certificate. She taught in a rural school in Pierce County, WI. In 1934 Alice married Harry G. Johnson. They lived in Ellsworth until 1947 when they moved to New Richmond, WI. Harry worked at Johnson Motor Sales in New Richmond. Alice was secretary to the principal of the New Richmond middle school from 1960-1978, when she and Harry retired. They traveled in Europe and throughout the United States after their retirement. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Estella Thompson; husband, Harry Johnson; brother, Donald Thompson; infant granddaughter, Deborah Gregerson; and grandson, Marc Gregerson. Alice leaves to mourn her passing daughter, Linda (Paul) Johnson Voth; son, Tommy Scott (Linda) Johnson; grandsons, Chris (Arlene) Gregerson, Eric (Kara) Johnson; granddaughter, Kristin (Bob) Blessing; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Gregerson, Alyssa, Megan, and Ryan Johnson, Athena and Clio Gregerson, Henry Blessing. A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 11 am at the New Richmond United Methodist Church. Visitation was also Wednesday from 10-11 am at the church. Interment was in Belvidere Union Cemetery in Goodhue County, Minnesota. Memorials honoring Alice may be directed to the New Richmond United Methodist Church. Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
