Alfred Larson 10/19/2013

Col. Alfred H. Larson age 73 a lifelong auctioneer of Huntington passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013 at his home farm.  He was born August 9, 1940 in New Richmond to Herman and Ethel (Hermanson) Larson.  Alfred graduated from New Richmond High School and continued his education to an auctioneer.  He was an auctioneer since the age of 9 when he sold his first item with his father.  Alfred owned and operated Jewelltown Auction Service and spent many years as a devoted employee at Lakeside Foods, Skoglund Oil and Domain.  In 1971, he married Alice Olson.  For 14 years, the couple owned and operated Jewelltown Country Store in Star Prairie.   Alfred loved farming, and continued farming the family farm all his life.  He was an excellent marksman and he loved to hunt.  He had an appreciation for nature and a love of the land.  Alfred made work fun and was known as an instigator of shenanigans.  He is survived by his wife, Alice; children, Billie Jo (Brandon Derosier) Larson, Justin (Tracy) Larson, Tim (Wendy) Larson; grandchildren, Damin Derosier, Alex Derosier, Luke Larson, Kasey Lynn Larson; sisters, Carol (Bob) Willert, Cathy (Elmer) Meyer, Judy (Greg) Morrisette, Linda Geraghty; sister-in-law, Marcella Larson; brother-in-law, Steve Munthe; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Bobbie Jo Larson; brother, Roger Larson; sister, Corrine Munthe; and brother-in-law, Mike Geraghty.  A funeral service was held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church.  Visitation was Tuesday, October 22, 2013 from 4-8 pm at Bakken-Young Beebe Chapel in New Richmond and also on Wednesday from 10-11 am at church.  Interment was in Oakland Cemetery in Star Prairie.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services Beebe Chapel of New Richmond.
