Alex “Al” Schroeder 02/03/2026

Al Schroeder, formerly of New Richmond, WI and Crosby, MN, passed away on Tuesday February 3, 2026 at age 94. Born in Farming, MN in 1931, he grew up on a dairy farm in Two Inlets, MN. A proud US Air Force veteran of 21 years, he worked as an aircraft electrician and then in radar electronics, serving in 7 states, Iceland and southeast Asia. Later careers included heating and refrigeration repair and large building heating and cooling plant operation and maintenance.
Al was known for his ability to build or repair nearly anything. He excelled in interior remodeling and in crafting custom wood furniture, with several of his pieces in the homes of family and friends. He also built and donated beautifully finished burial urns for veteran families.
Preceded in death by parents, 7 siblings and spouse of 66 years Verona (Provost). Survived by children David (Evelyn) Schroeder, Nancy Lescarbeau and Mark (Connie) Schroeder, grandchildren Jackie (Pete), Jake (Mary), Brad (Erin) and Jeana (Colin), and great-grandchildren Jameson, Evylee, Kyla, Makayla, Alliya, Logan and Natalie.
A Celebration of Al’s Life was held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 3-6 pm with a prayer service at 3 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI.  Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery – Little Falls, MN at 1 pm on Friday, April 17, 2026.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    We are so sad to hear this:(. Wish we would have taken the time to go see him. Take care all of you. It is always tough to lose a parent even if they had a long life. Love, Mitch and Sue
