Albert Arthur Severson, born on August 31, 1943, in Stillwater, Minnesota, passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 28, 2026, in Hammond, Wisconsin surrounded by his family. Albert was a dedicated small business owner, recognized for his hard work and perseverance in the liquor industry, having successfully operated B&L Liquor Store in Houlton, as well as Twin City Flame in St. Paul, Minnesota. He also owned gas stations, Clark and Texaco, in Stillwater, which reflected his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to serving his community.
Albert’s life was enriched by his marriage to Jean Reynolds on July 7, 1970. Together, they were blessed with four children: Michelle, Jason, Gidget, and Justin. While Albert and Jean later divorced, they maintained a lasting friendship. Albert cherished his role as a father and grandfather.
He was a loyal Packers fan, taking great pleasure in watching their games. Albert had a passion for classic cars, particularly Corvettes, and had an extensive collection of coins and other collectibles. Al coined the phrase “It’s gonna be worth something someday.” His love for music ran deep, with Elvis, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty, Patsy Cline, and Lynn Anderson among his favorites, capturing many memorable moments through song.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Severson Sr. and Amanda Studtmann; great-grandson, Ryan Severson; and siblings, Hoyt Severson, John Studtmann, Shirley (Earl Sr.) Plattner and Caroline Cook; brother-in-law, Luane Johnson Sr.; niece, Ranee Chapin and nephew John Cook. He is survived by his beloved children, Michelle Clute, Jason (Jacque Garske) Severson, Gidget (Mike) Bell, and Justin Severson; grandchildren, Alison (Nick Widing) Wettig, Korin (Jason Bendezu) Wettig, Bailey Severson, Kyra Severson, James (Destiny Gomez) Clute, Tucker (Courtney Powell) Bauer, Abigail Bell, Ecko Severson, Jaxon Severson, Magenta Severson, Jalyn Severson, Akaylea Bell, Joseph Bell; great-grandchildren, Aria, Nickson and Alexander Widing; siblings, Clarice Johnson, Clarence (Martha) Severson Jr., Willy (Dee) Studtmann, Henry Studtmann, Theresa (Doug) Stone; and many nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at 12 noon at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI. Visitation was also on Thursday from 10 am – 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment was in Houlton Cemetery in Houlton, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
