Agnes Lavinia Dawson Bynum

Our beloved Mimi went to Heaven on March 30, 2022, where she was welcomed by George, her husband of 50 years, along with many dear friends and family. She earned her wings in the 4 o’clock hour, timing it just right for Happy Hour – a pastime she always loved.

Mimi was born on September 27, 1921 in Marcellus, NY to Annie and Hugh Dawson. She and her twin brother Andy joined their older brother Hugh, as they became a tight knit family of five. She married George Taylor Bynum on November 3, 1951 in Marcellus where they built their first home.  They later lived in North Oaks, MN, spent 7 years raising their two children in Clearwater, FL and landed back in North Oaks in 1969. After George passed away, Mimi lived with family for over twenty years, before moving to Arbor Glen Senior Living in Lake Elmo in 2021.

Although petite in stature, Mimi’s impact on those she met was massive. Her zest for life was unmatched, and she always, always looked at the glass half full! She loved reading, crossword puzzles, grocery shopping and cooking, coffee (and vino) with friends, and time spent doing anything and everything with her family.  Her grandchildren and great granddaughters were the light of her life.

She is survived by her children Susie/Sue (Jeff) Lund, and Jeff Bynum; her grandchildren Abby (Josh) Foley, Katie (Scott) Rosenquist, Lyndsay Bynum, Blake Bynum, her precious great-granddaughters Addison and Emma Foley, great-grandpup Moe Rosenquist, and many treasured nieces and nephews.

We’re eternally grateful for all of the care and love Mimi received from the staff and residents at Arbor Glen and Brighton Hospice. They were angels on earth.

One of Mimi’s favorite holidays was Easter – a rebirth of the world and all things that brought her joy; blue skies, spring flowers, singing birds and a time to be with family. We will honor her life on Monday, April 18th with a remembrance in her favorite field at the Lund Residence (Stillwater) at 3 pm. followed by a celebration at Domacin, her favorite Wine Bar (Stillwater) from 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, we ask everyone, ourselves included, to live a bit more like Mimi; selfless, kind and giving to others. Pay It Forward in a way that feels authentic to you in honor of our dear Mimi. She made this world a better place just by being herself, and our hope is that we can collectively keep that legacy alive!
