
Lloyd Thomas O’Keefe, 84, of River Falls Wisconsin passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026. He was cherished and respected by his family and will be missed by all.
Lloyd was born and raised in and around Pepin, Pierce, and St. Croix counties in Wisconsin.
He was drafted into the United States Army in 1964 and honorably discharged in 1966. He was stationed in Germany and remained active in the Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion Post 121 in River Falls.
Upon leaving the military, Lloyd married Marlys Mae Powers on May 7, 1966 at St. John’s Church in Plum City, WI. That day began a wonderful nearly 60-year adventure together. Lloyd was proud of his family and loved them all so much.
He worked at the John Wood Company and the Equity Co-op before starting his career at Tower Asphalt in Lakeland, MN. A hard worker and exceptional provider, Lloyd worked at Tower as a plant operator until his retirement in 2002.
A farmer at heart, Lloyd enjoyed farming and later, gardening. He also enjoyed reading, golfing, and collecting/restoring antique tractors. In later years, he focused deeply on his faith and Bible study. His faith was a strength for him and invaluable to his family upon his passing.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Marlys (Powers) O’Keefe, children and daughters-in-law; daughter Charlene O’Keefe, son Jason O’Keefe (Mona Foster), daughter Katie O’Keefe, and son Mitch O’Keefe (Raine Anderson), his nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; John O’Keefe, Stephen O’Keefe, Doug O’Keefe, Jane Bacon, Tim O’Keefe, Mary Juliot, Emily Stewart, David O’Keefe, Dennis O’Keefe, Thomas O’Keefe, and Pauline Biederman and many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Bregetta O’Keefe, brothers Danny O’Keefe, Bill O’Keefe, and sister Jean Stuart.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00 am at Journey Church (605 Valley View Dr. ) in River Falls. Visitation will also be Saturday from 9:00-11:00 am at the church. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery with American Legion Post #121 of River Falls performing Military Honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Options for Women-River Falls or The Highground Veteran Memorial Project-Neillsville, WI. So so for your loss. Lloyde was a great man.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are of family reunions at the farm with Uncle Llyod and Aunt Marlys — sledding, hot chocolate, and being together as a family. Even after all these years, those memories still mean so much. You will always be remembered, and my heart is with Aunt Marlys and the family.
