
Virginia “Ginny” Ann (Benedict) Schwan peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by family on October 24th, 2024. Virginia was born in River Falls, WI on April, 5th, 1942 to parents Edythe (Bengtson) and Edmund Benedict. She attended River Falls High School and graduated in 1960. She began working for Thorp Financial thereafter.
On June 25th 1966, Virginia and Donald Schwan got married and briefly lived in River Falls, WI and had their son, Scott in 1967. In 1970, Virginia and Donald moved to Star Prairie, WI, where they had their daughter, Stacy, in 1972. Ginny worked a variety of different jobs throughout her life, but always talked about her time working at the WIXK radio station as a secretary.
Ginny was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word searches, and had an unwavering love for her family. She loved animals and could often be found spending time with her cat, Buddy. She was always ready to strike up a conversation with anyone and got along with everyone she met. She had a strong faith in God and was a devout Catholic. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 10818 and was involved in many aspects of the organization for many years. She is loved by many and will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edythe (Benson) and Edmund Benedict, brother Ronald Benedict, and half-brother Kenneth. She is survived by husband Donald Schwan, children Scott (Amy) Schwan and Stacy Schwan, sisters Carol Becker and Sharon Benedict, grandchildren Amanda (Kevin) Flores, Stephanie Schwan, Cody Schwan, Bailey Schwan, and Michaela Schwan, and great-grandchildren Maxx, Kevin Jr., Lucia, Nova, and Rylie along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The Schwan family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Hospice for all their support and assistance throughout her final days.
There will be a visitation at Cullen Crea Funeral Home at 11am followed up by a service at 12pm on Saturday November 2nd, 2024 at 12pm. A burial will follow at St. Bridget’s cemetery in Stanton, WI with a gathering at the Friendly Bar afterwards to celebrate the life and memory of Virginia.
