Virginia Kattwinkel

Virginia “Ginny” Kattwinkel was born in New York City to Frank and Florence Orann. She grew up in a loving family with three younger sisters, Joannie, Patsy and Merrilee. Her childhood was filled with music, laughter and great food. On January 8th, 1949 Ginny married the love of her life, Bill Kattwinkel. The couple moved to New Jersey and soon welcomed their daughter Patti. The small, loving family enjoyed many wonderful summers at Anoka Park Lake as well as fishing and boating in Canada. Ginny had several jobs in the art world, first as an illustrator of comics strips. Later, she became a buyer for an upscale boutique and enjoyed many trips into New York City filled with unique opportunities. Ginny and Bill moved to New Richmond WI to be with their daughter Patti and her growing family. Her grandchildren Jennifer and William Davis have wonderful memories of running across the back yard to spend time with their Nana and Papa. Nana become well known in the neighborhood when she opened Nana’s Daycare, which was her favorite and most rewarding endeavor. The children brought love, laughter and wonderful memories to her, Bill and the entire family. Years later Ginny and Bill adopted a sweet little dog, Reggie. Soon they welcomed a great grandson, Sevin Davis. Patti married Kent Leaf who was a devoted son-in-law. There were many delicious dinners filled with music and good conversation. Ginny was a gifted story teller, sharing tales of her childhood with family and friends. She enjoyed politics, reading, music, art, Broadway shows, museums and cooking big dinners with her extended family. Ginny passed away on Sunday June 17th, 2012 with her daughter by her side. Although she would never admit her age, Ginny had a long and wonderful life and was loved by many. As she wanted, her family celebrates her life remembering the ways that she touched the hearts of so many.
