Tom Schuette, age 82, of New Richmond, WI peacefully passed after a brief stay at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, MN on Saturday morning, September 6, 2025. Thomas Richard Schuette was born in Glencoe, MN on May 16, 1943, to Fred and Anastasia (Wirtz) Schuette. He was the youngest of three children. Following his education at Glencoe Schools, he served in the United States Army. After his Honorable Discharge Tom was proud to be an Army veteran. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Gaard in June, 1971. Although their marriage ended in divorce, it was blessed with two daughters, Kristin and Sarah. Tom worked at Doboy/Bosch in New Richmond for 37 years until his retirement in 2009.
Tom met Sue Droher in 1984 and the two of them enjoyed traveling and spending time together. He was welcomed into Sue’s family by her four children and their families.
Starting at an early age, he enjoyed riding his motorcycles and fulfilled his life-long dream when he purchased his Harley. He was a collector of toy tractors and motorcycles. Being a perfectionist, he took great pride in keeping his vehicles shining, creating woodworking projects and fixing anything that was broken.
Tom will be missed by his daughters, Kristin Schuette of Breckenridge, CO and Sarah (JJ) Barnes of Hudson, WI; granddaughter, Makenna Schuman of Breckenridge, CO; grandson, Graham Schuman of Breckenridge, CO; brother, Bob (Marilyn) Schuette of Glencoe, MN; sister, Dorothy (Clark) Ewert of Savage, MN; nephews, Jeff, Brian (Julie) and Chad; niece, Brenda; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation was held at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 S. Knowles Avenue, New Richmond, WI from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on October 6, 2025. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
