Suzanne Barthol 02/18/2025

Suzanne Marie Barthol (Peterson) of Stillwater, MN passed away surrounded by family on February 18th, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1956, to Lois and Edwin Peterson. Suzanne grew up on the family farm in Withrow with her mom Lois and stepfather Donald Lutz. She graduated from Mahtomedi High School in 1974. She was one of seven children.

On August 20, 1983, she married Robert C. Barthol Jr. Together, they enjoyed motorcycle rides to the North Shore, summers at Camp Holiday, cruises and traveling to St. Maarten. Sue had a lengthy employment background. Notably, she spent the majority of her career as a human resources supervisor for Super Valu – Cub Foods until retirement. She and Bob enjoyed spending time with their children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. People liked to gather at The Barthol House to jump on the trampoline and enjoy the “Treat Of The Day.” After retirement, Sue became involved with the local chapter of the women’s aerie for The Fraternal Order of Eagles, serving many different roles within the organization. She was known for enjoying a pull tab or two.

Sue is survived by her children, Tracy Castelluccio, Ashley (Chris) Lawson, Angela (Steve) DeSpiegelaere, Wendi (Matt) Ringhofer, Brian Barthol, Andrew Barthol, as well as close family friend Chris Herring. Siblings, Michael Peterson, Ricky Peterson, Lori Nelson, Randy Peterson, Brenda (Eddie) Lutz-Cornelison, Sharon (Junior) Williams. Grandchildren Jacob, Jason, Cameryn, Xavier, Olivia, Lennon, Pheonyx, Orion, Josie, Addie, Hadden, Jair, Kalli, Trevor, Bennett, as well as seven Great Grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert C. Barthol Jr. ; parents, Edwin Peterson, Lois and Donald Lutz; and sister, Vicki Gow.

Celebration of Life is scheduled from 1-4 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at Pioneer Park in Stillwater. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
