Shirley A. Lind, age 91 of New Richmond, WI, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2013. She lived at the Deerfield in New Richmond since it opened 13 years ago. Shirley was born in Freeport, MN on May 24, 1921. She attended school and graduated from the Waconia, MN High School. Shirley married Waino Lind on September 1, 1942 and after his military service in WWII moved to Hibbing, MN. They had four children, Wally, John, LeRoy and Sandra. Shirley was a homemaker and when the children got older she took a job as a shipping/receiving clerk for the Maid of Scandinavia Co. in Minneapolis where she worked until retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waino; son, John; grandson, Tim; parents; and by 7 brothers and sisters. Shirley is survived by her children, Wally (Esther) Lind of New Richmond, LeRoy (Rose) Lind of Mora, MN, and Sandra (Steve) Traxinger of Mandan, ND; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Wally (Gayle) Fox and Sheldon Fox; sister-in-law, Helen Fox; also survived by many nieces and nephews. A very special thank you to all the staff at the Deerfield for all their support, care, and love the past 13 years. Funeral service (1 PM) Monday, February 18th at the Deerfield Chapel, 1127 W. 8th Street, New Richmond, WI. Visitation 2 hours prior to service at the chapel. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
