Shirley Ann Ihle, of River Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at Hudson Hospital, Hudson, Wisconsin. Shirley was born on July 27th, 1931, to Ernest and Clara Ristau in Elmore, Minnesota. She graduated in 1949 from Elmore High School.
On June 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Archie Ihle. They farmed together in Blue Earth, Minnesota while raising their four children. Later they both were insurance agents in Blue Earth. Shirley loved to garden and took great pride in her flowers, getting many blue ribbons at the county fair. She also was a great cook and baker. You never left hungry from the table. When they sold the farm they moved to Elmore. Archie passed away in 2007 and Shirley moved to an apartment in Blue Earth. In 2013 Shirley moved to New Prague, Minnesota to be closer to where her daughter lived. In 2021 she moved to comforts of Home assisted living in River Falls. She enjoyed her time spent with family and especially the great grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Willis) Cooan, Star Prairie, Wisconsin; sons, Neil Ihle, Elmore, Minnesota, and Chris Ihle, Windsor Heights, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Joshua (Kristen) Cooan, Jeremy Cooan, Andrew (Teresa) Cooan, Bridget (Jason) Yopp and Brionna Ihle; 6 great grandchildren, Gracen Cooan, Turner Cooan, Archer Cooan, Henry Cooan, Teddy Cooan and Ben Cooan; brother, Duane (Marie) Ristau, New Ulm, Minnesota.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Archie; son, Grayling Ihle; parents, Ernest and Clara; siblings, Kenneth (Maxine) Ristau, Evelyn (Ivan) Sandsgard and Dorothy (Don) Loge. Private family service and burial will be at a later date.
