Ronald Gene Engebretson, age 74, of New Richmond, WI passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Ron was born and raised in St. Paul, Minnesota and attended Johnson High School. On November 6, 1972, he married the love of his life, Margaret, in St. Paul, MN. Together they built a loving family, which was always the center of Ron’s life.

Over the years, Ron held various positions in trade enterprises, Quicksilver, and IDS. He was a dedicated worker, always committed to providing for his family.

Ron was an avid sports enthusiast who especially loved golf, baseball, hockey, softball, broomball, and cheering on the Wisconsin Packers. He found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and great-granddaughter, always taking pride in their accomplishments.  Known for being opinionated and always wanting the final word, Ron was also deeply compassionate and kindhearted, with a warm sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Esther Engebretson; and siblings Pat (Genevieve), William, and John.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; children, Matthew (Linda) Engebretson, Greg Engebretson, and Rhonda (Mike) Morin; grandchildren, Derreck Engebretson, Alec (Hayley) Morin, Kaitlyn Morin, Brittany Decosta, Matthew Engebretson, and Thomas Engebretson; and great-granddaughter, Reagan Mae Morin. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Marilyn) Engebretson, Richard (Peggy) Englebretson; sister-in-law, Jeannie Engebretson, and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

Ron will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life was held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 1 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Avenue New Richmond, WI.  Visitation was on Sunday from 11 am – 1 pm at the funeral home.  Interment is in Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

    I love you dad… the impact of lossing you is like losing a part of my identity. I know I’ll be ok, but the hole that was you is so massive, I feel it everywhere. I miss you so much.

    Ron I can’t believe God took you home so soon I just spoke to you the day before and you sounded like you never had cancer you sounded yourself but God said it’s time to go home to the many mansions in heaven where you are at peace with your mom ,dad and brother until you are joined with Margaret one day .rest in peace Ron
