Robert “Bobby” Raiter 07/14/2024

Robert “Bobby” Charles Raiter, born April 16, 1942, passed away July 14, 2024, after a brief illness at the MN Veterans Home in Minneapolis, MN.  He was the son of Robert B. and Mary L. (Mead) Raiter.

Upon graduation from Breckenridge High School, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served for 4 years before being Honorably Discharged.

In 1964 he enrolled in Printing Technology at the State School of Science and two years later taking a job at Lakes Publishing Company, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.

Going back to college in 1967, Robert graduated from Southern State College, Springfield, South Dakota in 1970 and taught in the Sioux City, Iowa school district for the next 13 years.  During the 13 years that he was in Sioux City, he also completed his Masters plus 30 in Education.

In 1983 Robert left education and partnered with Clem Samourisato to create the Sundowner Bar in Breckenridge.  Five years later Robert bought out his partner and continued on with the business until 1997.  At that time the business was sold to the First National Bank of Breckenridge and the owner retired.

Traveling, yard work and relatives filled out the rest of Bob’s time.  He really enjoyed doing absolutely nothing in his retirement years.

In November 2020, Bobby moved to Minneapolis VA Home where he could be closer to his sisters.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary, and his brothers, Thomas E. and William E.; sister, Jane (Gerald) Rick; brother-in-law, James “Jim” Haire; and nephew, James “Jim” Rick.

Bobby is survived by his siblings, Katherine (Ron) Ricci, Richard (Ruth) Raiter, Mary Jo Haire; nieces and nephews, Jerry, Patty, Michael, Brenda, David, Rebecca, Jeff, Randy, Kris, Kyle, and Joey.

A private family service will be held.  Cremation services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of River Falls, WI
