Paul Nemetz

Paul Nemetz, age 82, passed way on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in his Somerset, Wisconsin home. Paul was born on November 12, 1929, in the Saint Joseph Hospital, Ashland, Wisconsin, the son of Bart and Josephine (Fliseck) Nemetz. He was a dairy farmer in the Ashland area, his entire life (Pine Grove Farm); and also repaired televisions and installed television antennas. He was well known as Ham radio operator W9AJU, a license he has held since 1950. He was a Wisconsin Fire Warden from 1977 until 2011, and was active in and past president of the Eileen Area Historical Society. Paul served as the Eileen Town Assessor from 1961 until 2005. Paul was a third degree Knight of Columbus and was a 4H leader for many years. He moved to Somerset, Wisconsin, in August of 2011. Survivors include: his sisters: Dorothy Olson, of Ironwood, Michigan; and May Whatley, of Somerset; nieces, nephews and friends. Paul was preceded in death by: his parents, and his brothers-in-law: Dale Olson; and Coleman Whatley. A visitation, for family and friends, will be held at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, Wisconsin, beginning at 1 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, and continuing until the hour of the service. A Mass of Christian Burial, for Paul, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 20, 2012, at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland. Father Paul Paré, O.F.M., will be the Celebrant. Interment, in the Saint Agnes Cemetery, Ashland, will immediately follow the Mass. Memorials to the Our Lady of the Lake roofing fund or a charity of your choice are preferred in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cullen Crea Funeral Home of New Richmond, Wisconsin.
