Patricia Marie Casey
July 6, 1955 – December 4, 2024
On the morning of December 4, 2024, the world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend to many, Patricia “Patsy” Marie Casey. Patsy was born in New Richmond, WI as “Patsy Dean” where she grew up on a farm with five siblings. The stories they have told of the antics they experienced on that farm could fill a storybook. Patsy married her long-time high school friend, Richard “Rick” Casey. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in April 2025. Together, they raised their four children – Miles, Bryan, Daniel, and Maureen. Each with their own big personalities, Patsy never failed to make them each feel special and loved.
Patsy had a remarkable ability to make people feel cherished and cared for. She demonstrated this through countless acts of kindness – welcoming people into her home for celebrations, cooking or grilling delicious meals, serving her church community, or simply sending a quick message to check in. In recent years, she even brightened the days of people she never met by leaving “random acts of crochet kindness” in various places – butterflies, “worry worms,” bees… little pops of color knotted with love for a stranger to find and make them smile. Patsy embodied love and community service in a way that is rare in today’s world, and she took immense pride in it.
Patsy enjoyed gardening and creating and maintaining beautiful flower beds. This attracted a number of species of birds and butterflies to the farm, which she enjoyed watching and photographing. Her green thumb extended beyond the farm, as she also took it upon herself to make sure that the graves of our ancestors at St. Patrick’s Cemetery were adorned with beautiful flowers. Fishing was another favorite pastime of hers; ice fishing or in a boat, as long as she had a fishing buddy, she was truly happy.
Patsy loved her family and Irish heritage dearly. In fact, she studied it, reading anything she could get her hands on about Irish history, and diving into her own family history. Her genealogy research spans back generations. She was so skilled in this area that others would interview her about what she had learned to inform their own family research.
Patsy is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years Richard, her sons Miles Casey (Carrie) and Bryan Casey (Erica), her daughter Maureen Cochran (Aaron), her daughter-in-law Cara Casey, five grandchildren: Emily, Camryn, Jack, Lela, and Ian, her sister Colleen Lovinello, her brother John Dean, and numerous other relatives and close friends.
Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved son, Daniel Casey; her parents, Elaine and Jack Dean; her siblings, Margaret McNamara, Kathleen Knoebel, and George Dean.
A visitation will take place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, December 13th with a prayer service at 7 PM . On Saturday, December 14th services will also be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with visitation at 10:00 AM and Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by Catholic burial. In lieu of flowers, donate to St. Patrick’s Church Building Fund in memory of Patricia Casey. For More information, please contact Susan at smbaustian@gmail.com.
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sunshine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
