Michael Winberg 04/22/2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Michael LeRoy Winberg, who left us on April 22, 2025, at the age of 53. He was born on July 15, 1971, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, and was a graduate of Glenwood City High School.

After high school, Mike attended law enforcement and criminal justice training at Rice Lake  WITC and Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire.  He worked for many years at St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office as a jailer, a patrolman, SWAT officer and motorcycle and snowmobile patrol.  In later years, he enjoyed working as an over-the-road semi driver and had a passion for driving.

Mike had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the drums.  As a lifelong Packer fan, he rarely missed watching a game.  Mike had a heart of gold and was always there for others and was willing to help whenever he could.

Family mourning this huge loss are his parents LeRoy and Barbara Winberg; son, Liam Winberg; Liam’s mother, Karn Winberg; sister, Terri Wilson (Jeff); brother-in-law, Terry Kuhn (Kim); special friend, Angie Richmond; nephews, Lance Kuhn (Kari), Jamey Kuhn (Laura Pederson), Chris Wilson (Bobbi) and Greg Wilson (Sai); many great nephews and nieces; and his dogs Bogey and Cecilia.

Mike is preceded in death by his sister, Susie Kuhn.

As we reflect on the impact he made in both the lives he touched personally and professionally, we invite family, friends, and all whose lives he influenced to join us in honoring him on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 5:00PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Service (728 S Knowles Ave) New Richmond, Wisconsin with visitation beginning at 3:00PM.  Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
