Marlys Mae Running, age 81 of New Richmond, Wisconsin died, Wednesday September 24, 2025, at Lakeview Hospital in Stillwater, Minnesota, surrounded by family.
She was born at home on June 27, 1944, in New Richmond, a daughter of Gayhart Larson and Marjory (Briese) Johnson. On December 29, 1998, she married Roland Running. Marlys was a tough, kind, loving mother and grandmother. She lived a simple and modest life, with some of her hobbies being watching The Young and The Restless, listening to music on the radio, wearing denim shirts, talking on the phone and visiting with friends and family along with an occasional visit to the casino. She was most known for her strawberry Bavarian cream gelatin dessert.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gayhart and Marjory, her husband Roland and her son Troy Running. She is survived by her children, Dawn Kelly, Denise Larson, Dena Hoppe, Ross Running, Ryan Running; 13 grandchildren: Tyler, Alyssa, Parker, Josh, Jayda, Logan, Sophie, Landon, Colin, Lilyana, Phoenix, Owen and Kaitlyn and five great-grandchildren: Jordy, Azella, Evelyn, Wyatt, and Preston.
Graveside service was held, Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the New Richmond Cemetery in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
