Marianne V. (Maitrejean) Ball died peacefully at home on Saturday August 13 surrounded by her loving family. Marianne was born in Somerset, WI on August 1, 1931 to Pearl and Delia (Germain) Maitrejean. She was a graduate of Somerset HS as well as the Minneapolis School of Business. On September 15th, 1951 she was united in marriage to John F. Ball Jr. Marianne and John were blessed with 5 children, 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Marianne was a retiree (17 years) of Doboy Packaging. She also worked for Schultz Brothers and JC Penney department stores in New Richmond. Her proudest profession however, was as a wife and mother. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was active with Immaculate Conception Church and St. Mary’s Catholic school. If you ever attended a function at either of these locations, you have probably enjoyed Marianne’s talent in the kitchen. Marianne enjoyed sewing, knitting, and quilting. These hobbies were put to use in making numerous items for family, friends, and the community. Marianne was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Delia Maitrejean; brother, Edward; sister, Ione Larson; brother in-law, Bud Larson; sister-in-law, Katherine Maitrejean. Marianne is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, John F. Ball; sons, John (Bev), James (Laura), Thomas (Mary), Mark Ball and daughter Colleen (Robin) Haffner; brothers, Wilfred, Robert (Doris) Maitrejean; sister, Corinne (Chuck) Zahnow; sister-in-law, Agnes Maitrejean also many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Ball family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Westfield Hospital, in addition to the many family members and friends who aided her in her courageous 7 year battle with cancer. Marianne’s strong faith guided her during this difficult time. Her gentle spirit will be missed by her family and those she has touched in the community. Visitation 4-7 PM Tuesday August 16th at the CullenCrea Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday August 17 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment parish cemetery. Memorials preferred.
