Loral R. Keil, age 68, of St. Louis Park, MN and formerly of River Falls, WI passed away February 13, 2026 after a brief illness. Born on February 15, 1957, in Mount Pleasant, Texas, Loral was a cherished daughter of the late Larry and Ruth Keil.
Loral’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to education and her boundless love for her family. Her childhood was one of adventure and adaptability, moving from Texas to Milwaukee in the second grade, and later to Missouri in the eighth grade. She graduated in 1975 from Lutheran High School South, and went on to pursue her passion for teaching at Wilmington College in Ohio, where she graduated in 1979 with a degree in Elementary Education.
It was at Wilmington College that Loral met the love of her life, Brian. Their partnership, marked by deep affection and mutual respect, led them to Concordia Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri, where they exchanged vows on November 28, 1981. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them to Ohio, Minnesota, and finally to western Wisconsin, where they lovingly nurtured their family.
Loral’s career began as a Library Assistant at Ohio State University, where she touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and love of learning. After relocating to Minnesota, she devoted herself to raising her children, Clare and Luther, before settling in western Wisconsin, where she worked as an education assistant until her retirement in 2022.
In retirement, Loral continued to share her warmth and compassion by volunteering at Treasures from the Heart, taking walks and reading. Her gentle presence and patient guidance as a grandmother will forever be cherished by her grandchildren, who were blessed to have her nearby in the Twin Cities.
Her love for literature remained a constant throughout her life, and she found joy in the pages of mysteries, fantasies, science fiction, and history. An introvert by nature, reading was her gateway to the world, allowing her to explore boundless realms from the comfort of her home.
She is survived by husband, Brian, children, Clare (Isabel Ramirez) Miller and Luther (Mira) Blume; and her treasured grandchildren, Alma and Frida Blume; as well as her siblings, Elsa Keil, Martha (Greg) Stolze, and Paul (Charlene Oldham) Keil; and niece, Alice Stolze; and nephew, Dan Stolze. Loral is preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Ruth.
A memorial service will be held honoring the life of Loral, on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 11:00 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E Division St.) in River Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and a reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Literacy Minnesota, https://www.literacymn.org/give or Madelyn Island Wilderness Preserve, https://www.miwp.org/ in Loral’s memory, as a testament to her generous spirit and her lifelong commitment to helping others.
