John Buckley

John Buckley, age 68, of Bayport, Minnesota passed away on November 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a brave battle against cancer. John loved firefighting, serving 31 years with Stillwater Fire Department, rising to the rank of assistant chief, and inspiring his sons to follow in his footsteps. He was also a building inspector/official for Stillwater and Bayport until his well-deserved retirement in 2018. John loved camping, cribbage, and cold Miller Lite; but nothing compared to his love for his family. He will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Karen (Rondeau); children Brandon (Jen), Carissa (Bill), Angela, and Derrick; and grandchildren, Tiana, Bryce, Aidan, Reece, Peyton, Tyler, and Caiden. He is also survived by sister, Jeanne (Greg) Swanson; brother, Joe (Mary); in-laws, Arnold and Betty Rondeau, Dan (Mary), Larry (Marnie), Jeff (Jane), Annette Bamberg, Michelle (Jim) Sachs, Colleen (Mark) Dahlke and Tim (Cindy). He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Barb; brother, Stan; sister, Kathy Helland; brother-in-law, Brad Rondeau; and daughter-in-law, Dianne.

At John’s request, there will be no public service/burial. In lieu of flowers, please consider doing a blood donation. For those who feel inclined, raise a glass and toast to his memory.
