James (Jim) Mark Irwin, born on November 28, 1947, in St. Paul, MN, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, from natural causes on July 6, 2025, at the age of 77. He spent much of his life in St. Paul, MN but recently relocated to New Richmond, WI to enjoy his final years. Jim was known for his strong work ethic as well as his helpful and generous nature.
Jim had a passion for playing poker and blackjack, and was the state champion or placed in the top 5 in various blackjack competitions on multiple occasions. Anytime he went to a casino, he would say “I’m going to work…later.” A lover of science fiction, he enjoyed a can of Busch beer while watching Star Trek, Stargate SG1 or any documentary on physics or the universe. He also enjoyed tending to his garden, nurturing his prized tomato plants and making pickles.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Ramona Irwin, and his two children: Chris Irwin (Melissa Irwin) and Jaime Dery (Josh Dery) along with many other friends & family. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Sofie Irwin, Katherine Dery, and Jackson Dery. Jim is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Patricia Newstrand, Debora Irwin, Terry Irwin, Susan Irwin, and who will carry cherished memories of their time together. Jim was preceded in death by: Herbert Irwin (father), Deloris Irwin (mother), Richard Irwin (brother), and Nancy Lofquist (sister).
In honor of Jim, please consider wearing his favorite outfit: blue jeans and a black t-shirt.
