Jean Dalton

Jean Dalton

On Saturday, November 9, 2019, at her home in Emerald, WI, Jean Marie (Leverty) Dalton, 60, fell asleep wrapped in the arms of Jesus, surrounded by the love of family. Jean was born on February 18, 1959 in New Richmond, WI to Tom and Virginia Leverty. She was raised in New Richmond and graduated from New Richmond High School with the class of 1977.

Thirty-seven years ago, Jean was united in marriage to the love of her life, John. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters who meant the world to her and later gave her three sons-in-law that she cherished and ten grandchildren who were her pride and joy.

Jean made a career in insurance, but her true passion was taking care of her family and home. Jean loved all of the time she spent with John, helping on the farm, going for rides around the countryside or just admiring the life they created together.

Jean was one of the strongest women in the world.  She was so gracious and generous to everyone.  Even as God held her hand as she walked down the Yellow Brick Road, she continued to think of everyone before herself.

You could see the great pride Jean took in all that she did; from her beautiful flower beds, bountiful vegetable gardens, her enormous Christmas cookie variety, and the large selection of canned goods she prepared.  She loved to share all that she made. Her involvement in a local homemakers club flourished into a group of friends she considered family. She was a former Master Gardener, part of the Willow River Quilters Guild and loved scrapbooking. John and Jean found great friendships in the Hereford Community. She loved the trips they took and visiting the friends they met along the way.

Jean loved hosting family and friends for events from small gatherings like tea parties with her Homemakers club to large family holidays and everything in between. She always had a wonderful home cooked meal to share and a way to decorate for any occasion. In all that she did she could make everyone feel special.

Her kind heart and beautiful smile will be missed by everyone that knew her. Whether you knew her for years or only a few minutes, you could feel the love she had for life.

Jean will remain in the hearts of her loving husband, John; children: Missy, Matt, Emma, Addalyn, Brynlee & Brystol Trautmiller; Shelly, Ed, Isabelle & McKynlee Peterson; and Laura, Gabe, Alex, Brady, Landon & Evelyn Bohatta; siblings: Dennis Leverty, Rosie (Mike) Knutson, Jim Leverty, Pat (Heather) Leverty, Judy (Steve) Guise, Steve (Sandy) Dalton, Tom (Terry) Dalton, Debbie (Joe) Clennon, David Dalton, and Julie Dalton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law April and Marilyn and many special friends. Jean was greeted at Heaven’s gate by her parents, Tom and Virginia Leverty; in laws Jack & Kary Dalton; and sister-in-law Kim Leverty.

Visitation will be 4-7 PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, prayer service at 7PM, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Erin Prairie, Wisconsin. Mass of Christian Burial 12 PM (noon) Thursday, November 14, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Also visitation for one hour prior to Mass at the church.
