James Robert Fouks, 89, of Deer Park, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, November 6, 2025. He was born on August 5, 1936, in his family home in Cylon Township, Wisconsin, the son of Irwin and Freda Fouks.
After schooling and helping to provide for his family, he was drafted into the United States Army in July 1959, and served until honorably discharged in 1961 . He completed basic training at Fort Hood before being sent to Korea.
Jim married Linda (Thompson) on November 24, 1962, at Deer Park United Methodist Church. Jim and Linda would have been married for 63 years this November. Linda will miss the flowers Jim would always bring home. Whether in Wisconsin or Arkansas, Jim would always bring home flowers that were in bloom.
Jim and Linda worked on their farm together. They grew corn for a cannery in New Richmond and soybeans. While Linda and the boys raised sheep, Jim focused on raising the pigs. A few years after getting married, Jim began working as a short-haul trucker through the Teamster Union for multiple companies. He retired in 1998 after over 30 years.
The outdoors, family, and friends were always important to Jim. He grew up hunting and fishing and shared those hobbies with his wife, sons, and friends. He also shared his love of golf with his sons. Jim and his friend Dick bought land up North and built a shack. This decision would provide decades of memories with his friends, sons, and grandchildren. Linda made sure Jim would enjoy retirement with the purchase of the Back 40 (aka his fishing boat). Many trips to Kewaunee, Wisconsin with family and friends resulted from that. Jim and Linda began to winter in Arkansas and expanded their circle of friends with other retirees in the neighborhood. If Jim was not occupied with hunting, fishing, or golfing, you would find him working around the house. He loved to garden and work around the house. He was always improving his home and yard. When he needed a break, you could catch him sitting down with a good book.
Remaining to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife Linda; children, Scott (Lori), Rod (Nina); grandchildren Katie Fouks, Allison (Alex) Paulson, Connor Fouks, Hannah (Noel) Droz, Derek (Alexis) Fouks; great-grandchildren, James and Henry Paulson and Aurora Droz; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents, Irwin and Freda Fouks.
A memorial service for Jim was on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 11:00AM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) New Richmond, Wisconsin, with visitation starting at 9:00AM. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Deer Park, Wisconsin.
