James Eliason, Sr. 09/06/2025

James Eliason, Sr. 09/06/2025

James (Jim) Weinhardt Eliason Sr, age 94, passed away on 9/6/2025 at the Hammond Nursing Home with family by his side. Born on November 18, 1930 in Luck, WI, he lived a life of service and devotion not only to the land as a farmer but as a serviceman in the Army.
Jim was the second of three children born to Magnus and Alice (Weinhardt) Eliason. He attended school at Trap Rock School and Milltown High school, then moved and graduated from the New Richmond High School in 1950. During his school years he boxed, played basketball and was active in the FFA.
He served his country from 1952 until 1954 while stationed in Germany. He was assigned to the 42nd Field Artillery Brigade with the 7th Army. Upon release from active duty, he remained in the reserves, serving out the rest of his enlistment.
Jim met Jeanie Herold and they were married on March 17th 1962 thanks to cupid Louie Hastert. Together they settled at the old family farmstead and welcomed son James Eliason Jr in 1976. His life was devoted to farm work and ran the farm with his brother Don. He instilled in his son and grandchildren that a day’s hard work was most important. One of his favorite past times was also spending time in the shop and salvage yards.
Along with farming, he was proud of his son Jim Jr and grandchildren Anaka and Landen. He would attend sporting and county fair events for them when he was able and loved dressing up as Santa when they were younger so he could spoil them with gifts. He had a large heart and was always trying to give back to those less fortunate than him. He also had a huge heart for animals, caring for them unwaveringly.
James is survived by his son James Jr and wife Barb, along with his granddaughter Anaka and grandson Landen. He is also survived by nieces Barb (Paul) Durand, Carmen (Mark) Wabbe, LuAnn (Greg) Frederickson, Martha Eckerline, Karyn (Michael) Schuler and nephews Mark (Heidi) Eliason and Doug Otto along with many other family members and friends.
He was welcomed into Heaven by his wife Jeanie, sister Maxine (Wally) Otto, and brother Don (Mary) Eliason, along with his parents Magnus and Alice.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2 pm at First Lutheran Church 218 County Road K New Richmond, WI.  Visitation will also be on Friday from 1-2 pm at the church.  Interment will be in the New Richmond Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church.
