Glenn Mathew Berg, lovingly known as “Unkie”, age 79 of Emerald Wisconsin, died on Saturday, December 5, 2015. Unkie was born the son of Caroline (Peterson) and Arnt Berg on April 27, 1936 in Duluth, Minnesota where he grew up. Unkie worked for the State of ND Highway Department from 1955 to 1993 as a certified land surveyor. He was drafted into the Army in 1959 and was discharged in 1961. After he retired from the Highway Department he moved to Emerald Wisconsin to live with his brother Arnold and his mother Caroline at his brother’s farm. While living on the farm, Unkie cared for his mother, his uncle Henry, and his older brother Arnt. Unkie enjoyed working on the farm, going to the casino “gip-joint”, spending time with and feeding his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and pets. Unkie is preceded in death by his mother and father, his uncles John, Bill, Matt and Henry Peterson, his aunts Anna Knapp and Katherine Beauregard, his brothers Robert and Arnt, sister-in-law Annette, and nephews David Larson and Steve Hill. Unkie is survived by his sister Phyllis Syverson, brother Arnold Berg, his sister Carol (Russ) Henrikson, his niece Jeris Hill, nephews Daniel Larson, Paul Syverson, Mark Syverson, niece Suann Dehne, and nephews Glenn Henrikson and Robert “Bob” Henrikson, and 16 great nieces and nephews, and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Friday December 11, 2015 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home in New Richmond, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home. Pallbearers, Robert “Bob” Henrikson, Glenn Henrikson, Justis Dehne, Paul Syverson, Mark Syverson, and Dan Larson; Officiant, Jeris Hill. Military Honors will be performed by New Richmond American Legion. Interment will be held at noon on Saturday December 12, 2015 at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Highbridge, WI.
