Gary Michael Sollman, age 71, of New Richmond, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at his home.
He was born on June 20, 1954, in Amery, Wisconsin, a son of Lawrence Frank and Rachel Ann (Korpi) Sollman. Following high school, Gary enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he proudly served his country for four years. After his military service he worked for Andersen Windows for 26 years followed by working at the YMCA for 13 years up until his retirement. On December 30, 2006, he married Terri (Wipperling) Kiekhafer in Hudson, Wisconsin, together they enjoyed many road trips together until his health would no longer allow him to travel. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends and family and surrounding himself with the love of birds and music at his home. He was charismatic and obnoxious, he wore his emotions on his sleeve, and he will leave an impact for a lifetime. When he’d grow out his beard, with his rosy cheeks and smile, he looked like Santa Claus. He would even dress up to play the part at many different venues for Christmas throughout the years. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Rachel; his son, Robin Sollman and brother Larry Sollman. He is survived by his wife, Terri; his children, Jan Sollman, Matthew (Desirae) Sollman, Rachel Williams, Alicia Larson and Abby French; 13 grandchildren and sister, Lorna (Larry) Reichenberg as well as many extended relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, 728 S. Knowles Ave., New Richmond, WI. Interment will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM, in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N4063 Veterans Way, Spooner, WI. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
