Donald Brady Giese passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends, after a long, hard battle with Parkinson’s and dementia.
He was born on January 18, 1939, to Lester and Lucille Giese. Don grew up in Star Prairie, Wisconsin, alongside his brother Dave and sister Diane Cullen. He graduated from New Richmond High School, where he loved sports and excelled in both track and football.
On January 26, 1957, Don married Joy Baillargeon. Together they raised three amazing children: Scott, Tammy, and Mike. Early in their marriage, Don’s career in the computer field took the family to several locations including Roseville, Minnesota; Philadelphia; San Diego; and St. Louis. Eventually, they returned to the New Richmond area, where Don and Joy owned and operated Riverview Liquors for 25 years.
In 1997, Don married his second wife, Linda. They shared many wonderful years together filled with golf, trips to Las Vegas, watching sports, and vacations to California. Their home was always a warm gathering place for friends and family, filled with games, laughter, and libations.
Don will be remembered for his quick smile, amazing sense of humor, and love for his family and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Linda; their three dogs; his children Scott (Nancy), Tammy (KC) Kinsell, and Mike (Sandi Creel) Giese; eight grandchildren—Joel, Tony, Lori, Michael, Ryan, Max, Cailen, and Sam; and three great-grandchildren—Isabelle, Allison, and Henry. He also leaves behind extended family and many cherished friends too numerous to name.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the New Richmond Golf Club from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Comfort Keeper’s Melissa, his devoted primary caregiver, along with the many others who helped care for Don.
