DeLain Elton Diedtrich, age 71 of River Falls, WI, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at M Health Fairview Southdale in Edina, MN. DeLain was born the son of Elmer and Delores (Geib) Diedtrich on December 6, 1952, in Huron, SD. DeLain grew up in Aberdeen, SD graduating from Central High School with the class of 1971. He started work at Control Data in 1972. On August 19, 1972, DeLain was married to Deborah Diedtrich. They spent a couple years in Aberdeen before moving to Burnsville MN, so he could attend Control Data Institute in Minneapolis, MN. In 1976, they moved to a home in Rosemount, MN. DeLain spent 45 years working for Control Data, now General Dynamics Mission Systems. He started his career testing computer hardware before it went out to customers. Later, he spent many years in customer support traveling all over. Most recently, he worked as a system administrator for the company’s in-house system. He also worked in the accounting department. He retired in 2017, DeLain and Debbie moved to River Falls, WI in 2018. DeLain was a member of Abundant Life Church in River Falls and played guitar with the worship team. He loved music, especially the Beatles. He liked classic cars and going to car shows. DeLain enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a soft-hearted man who loved God, life, and people. He was always positive and uplifting to those around him even when his own situation was not good. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Diedtrich, and sister, LeNise Diedtrich. DeLain is survived by his wife, Deborah Ellen Diedtrich; children, Chavis (Melissa) Diedtrich, and Amber Diedtrich; grandchildren, Dylan Daly-Schreiner, Liam Diedtrich, and Elise Diedtrich; mother, Delores Diedtrich; sister, Melanie (Bruce) Krabseth; nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. A Celebration of DeLain’s Life was held on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 11 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI and streamed live through the link just below this obituary. Visitation was also on Monday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

DeLain will be sadly missed by those of us who knew him. I was blessed to call him my friend. Those of us, who knew him, will have him in our hearts forever. So sorry to hear about DeLain. He was a dear friend and I loved working with him. He loved crab cakes and would always have one when he got to Baltimore.

Delain will be missed by many. He was always the positive guy who had a smile or a joke and ready to take on the next task. I remember the days when we had the “test” picnics out at the Control Data campgrounds with all the playpens set up and then partied all night.
