Dean Ervin Scholz, born January 10, 1945, in West St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on Friday, August 22 at the age of 80 at Amery Hospital.
Dean was a 1962 graduate of St. Paul Park High School. Following his education, he served in the United States Air Force for one-and-a-half years before returning home to pursue dairy farming. After a short period of dairy farming, he dedicated 27 years to the dairy industry through his work in the milking equipment business. His career included positions with several equipment dealers starting in New Richmond before purchasing and operating the original business where he began his dairy equipment journey. Later, Dean contributed many years of service to the maintenance department at the Amery Hospital until his retirement in 2012.
Even after retiring Dean remained actively involved in agricultural spending significant time gardening in his greenhouse, driving silage truck, and his passion as self-appointed tour guide of Minglewood farm. He also enjoyed spending time traveling and listening to polka music.
Dean was deeply engaged in his church community, serving as council president, treasurer, deacon, and in numerous other capacities. Known for his willingness to help others, he regularly assisted with appliance repairs, home repair and maintenance, and any other work while sharing Jesus.
Family was central to Dean’s life. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane (Kruschke) Scholz m:2009; son Craig and wife Kim (Foss) of Deer Park, WI, granddaughter Kaitlyn Scholz, grandson Colin and wife Kellie (Kjeseth); son Keith Scholz of New Richmond, WI, granddaughter Kathy (Scholz) and Joseph Gates, grandson Benjamin and Jennifer (Nordlund) Scholz; son Brian Scholz and wife Sheila (Keller); along with five great-grandchildren; mother of his three sons Cynthia; brothers Dan (Donna), Dave (Laverna); sister Doris Witzel (Dave); brother-in-law Loren Hartung, Alden (Shirley) Kruschke, Byron (Cheryl) Kruschke. Preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Evelyn (Rechtzigel) and sister Diane Hartung.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 728 S Knowles Ave New Richmond, WI. A Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church 811 S Ave West, Clear Lake, WI, with a visitation one hour before, and a luncheon following at the church. Interment will be on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 10 am in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner WI.
