In Loving Memory of Dawn Marie Maslowski

September 2, 1962 – June 1, 2025

Dawn Marie Maslowski (née Sandahl) passed away peacefully after a courageously private battle with cancer, with her devoted husband of 37 years, Larry Maslowski II, by her side.

Born in Stillwater, Minnesota, to James “Jim” and Sharon Sandahl, Raised in Withrow, Minnesota. Dawn grew up next to her grandparents’ farm, where she spent joyful days riding her pony and playing with all her cousins and Leah Wulfer. She attended the Stillwater Junior & Senior High School. That is where she met Larry—her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They graduated together from the Stillwater Area High School, Class of 1981. Dawn also enjoyed time at the family cabin with her friends and family.

Dawn and Larry shared a quiet kind of love—deep, steady, and fiercely loyal. They were private by nature, not because they kept others out, but because they found everything they needed in each other. Their closeness was a quiet sanctuary, and from that place of strength, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends with sincerity, warmth, support and enjoyed having fun with everyone.

Dawn’s career included roles at Oak Park Heights State Bank, Mahtomedi School District, TIES and Just for Me Spa. She was known for her dedication, kindness, and joyful spirit.

She and Larry married on October 16, 1987 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Stillwater, by a close family friend, Deacon Roger Carlson. The reception was at the VFW Post 323, with love, laughter, dancing, singing and eventually ending the wedding reception celebrating with twirling Homer Hankies as the Twins just won the 1987 World Series.

They lived in Oak Park Heights, MN for a few years and then moved to Stillwater, MN. They shared a deep love with their cherished Yorkies, Bentley and Everett. Dawn loved them so deeply and even included their small, sketched picture and signature to all family & friend’s cards. Eventually they made Lakeland Shores, their forever home where they quickly made new friend, that included dear friends Bob and Joan Shearer.

Throughout her life Dawn loved bowling with her mom Sharon, mother-in-law Rosie, and her “sisters” at Stillwater Bowl, dancing at Sh-Booms, boating on the St. Croix with friends Barry Roach and Larry Morelli, and listening to The Suburbs or “The Burbs”. A passionate tennis fan, she traveled with sister-in-law Lanae to the national championships, Virginia Slims in New York City to see tennis legends. It was a once in a lifetime trip for the two of them!

She adored her nieces and nephews—26 in total—plus 9 great-nieces and nephews, with two more on the way. Dawn celebrated joyfully with them for birthdays, holidays, game days and cards. Dawn felt blessed to be present in important milestone of the kids that included Baptisms, Confirmations, Graduations. Dawn was honored to be asked to be in all of her “Sisters” Weddings. In recent years Dawn enjoyed shopping, Lunches or dinners along with unforgettable trips with her dearest friends, Beth, Nicole, Pam, and Rochelle.

Her favorite place to be was with Larry being his amazing support and caretaker at times. They spent time sitting on a bench by the beach on the St. Croix River, where they watched many sunrises and sunsets, talking, laughing and giggled together. That quiet beautiful space remains a symbol of their enduring love—a place where her spirit will always linger as a testament to her care and love for the incredible quiet life they shared together in this beautiful world for 46 years. She will be missed beyond words!
