David Ervin Matz 1953 ~ 2025

David Ervin Matz, 71, passed away on May 18^th, 2025, at his home in River Falls, Wisconsin.  He was born on July 24^th, 1953, in Dane, Wisconsin.  David, affectionately known as Dave, grew up in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School.  He proudly served in the US Navy.  After his service, Dave spent many years working at the University of Wisconsin – River Falls where he retired after a fulfilling career.

Dave was known for his caring nature, always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, fishing, and golfing, along with bowling.  He was often found helping his friends on their farms, a testament of his generous nature.

Dave leaves behind a large family that cherished his fun-loving spirit.  Brothers, Jerry, Steve, Tim, Kenny, LeRoy, Mark, John, Jim, and Gene, along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Lenora.

Dave’s warmth and kindness will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

A gathering to honor Dave’s life will be held at Bakken-Young Funeral and Cremation Services (805 E Division St.) in River Falls, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, June 3^rd, 2025, from 4 – 7 pm.
