David “Dave” Otto 03/27/2025

David “Dave” Otto, 72, of Star Prairie, WI, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2025. Born in Ladysmith, WI on June 22, 1952, Dave was a proud graduate of St. Croix Central High School, class of 1970. After high school, he served our country with honor in the US Navy from 1972 to 1975.

Following his time in the military, Dave kicked off a long career at Andersen Windows, where he dedicated himself until his retirement in 2007. Retirement didn’t slow him down, though! He went back to school at WITC to learn Ag Mechanics and Small Engine Repair—he just wanted to “fix his junk,” as he often said. Dave was always surrounded by projects and enjoyed collecting various things that needed a little TLC.

In his free time, you could find Dave enjoying the great outdoors. He loved hunting, trapping, and fishing. He also had a passion for baking and had a fond collection of Allis-Chalmers tractors. Weekend rendezvous trips and shooting at Regional Forts were also some of his favorite pastimes.

Dave is survived by his son, Timothy (Andrea) Otto; granddaughters, Hannah and Lexi Otto; and his sisters, Judy McKee and Jean Otto, along with nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dolores Otto, and his brothers, Alan and Jim Otto.

A memorial rendezvous celebrating Dave’s life took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services, located at 728 S Knowles Ave in New Richmond. We invited friends and family to come share their stories and remember the good times. The next day, Thursday, April 10, 2025, there was a military honors interment at 11:00 AM at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.

Arrangements are being handled by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

Cant begin to track all the miles Dave and put on while we were in Junior High School. Be it trapping at Murray’s Pond behind our childhood homes, out to Tenmile Creek or the Kinnikinnic we shared many many great times together. RIP Dave. Til we meet again…..
