Charles E. White, son of Kenneth and Helen White, was born on November 10, 1928, in River Falls, Wisconsin. He passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on June 20, 2025.
Charles was a 1945 graduate of River Falls High School. He attended River Falls Teacher’s College for one year before continuing his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned both his Bachelor of Science degree and his law degree in 1951.
Charles practiced law in River Falls for 42 years. Known to many as “Chuck”, he was deeply involved in his community. He was a lifelong Mason and a proud member of River Falls Lodge #109, serving as Grand Master of Masons of Wisconsin from 1970 to 1971. He was also active in the Scottish Rite, Shriners, American Legion Post #121, and numerous other service organizations.
While serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Chuck worked as a military attorney and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service.
Chuck married Patricia Schad, and together they raised three children: Linda, Cindy, and Charles. Later in life, he found love again and married his beloved wife, Ruth Anne Benson.
Those who knew Chuck enjoyed his sharp sense of humor and his legendary ability to recite poetry and song lyrics from memory. Just two days before his passing, he recited much of the Gettysburg Address – a testament to his enduring wit and keen mind. He loved deer hunting, fishing, boating, and a good game of bridge. More than anything, he cherished time with family and friends, always looking forward to the next adventure.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Anne; his daughter, Cindy; his stepchildren and their spouses; and his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen White; his first wife, Patricia; his daughter, Linda; his son, Charles; and his brothers, Roger and Jack.
A Celebration of Life for Charles White will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at the First Congregational Church, 110 North 3rd Street, River Falls, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, with a service at 11:00 am. Lunch will follow immediately after the service. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I knew Chuck and his family as a neighbor on Pierce Street in RF and as a fellow parishioner at Trinity Episcopal Church in RF. I always enjoyed my conversations with Chuck……especially his sense of humor. So sorry to hear of his loss.
I knew Chuck and his family my entire life. He was one of the rock of ages at the Trinity Church where our families attended. An important contributor of all of River Falls institutions that will be truly missed, but remembered.
Great man! Also knew his Mother well
I had cleaned for Chuck for about 20 years. He always made time to chat with me while there. Such a wonderful, nice man. I will surely miss him. My condolences to Ruth Ann and the family
Hi Ruth Ann, I am so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts & prayers are with you. I remember years ago when you were good friends with my mother-in-law, Beatrice Simonson. She treasured your friendship. Love from Laurie Kusilek Simonson, now Hansen
I’m sorry to hear of Charles White’s passing away. He was an excellent human being. A class act. A very thoughtful and kind individual. I remember him walking by our house, many years ago, on his way to work at his law office in downtown River Falls. He always had a kind word. I knew him as Mr. White, father of Cindy, Chuck, and Linda. I also knew him through Trinity Episcopal Church in River Falls, where he was an active and devoted member. He will be missed by many in the community. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace. ♥️🙏🕊️
