Bernadine “Bernie” (nee Kock) Mortensen age 79 of New Richmond, WI, formerly of Maplewood, MN passed away Jan. 24, 2014 surrounded by her family. Bernie was a loving and generous wife and mother to her family and many foster children and foreign exchange students. She was an active volunteer with the Transfiguration School and Church, Hill-Murray High School and St. Croix County American Red Cross. Bernie was an auxiliary member of Knights of Columbus and New Richmond VFW. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Choir and volunteered at Westfields Hospital Gift Shop for many years. Preceded in death by her parents, Herman & Agnes Kock; and daughter, Beverly. Survived by her husband of 59 years, John; children, Gary (Jody), Cindy (Gary), and Jean Martinson; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday February 1st (11 AM) at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 151 S. Washington Ave., New Richmond, WI. Visitation one hour prior to service at church. Interment Parish Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
