Anna was born March 5, 1925 to Anna and John Ball in New Richmond, Wisconsin. She relished her Irish upbringing on the Ball family farm, reminiscing about chores up to her passing. She attended Oak Hill School where, like all the students, carried in the firewood and water for this one room schoolhouse. Anna graduated from New Richmond High School and attended University of Wisconsin-River Falls for two years. After leaving college she managed payroll for Doughboy Industries. While working there she met the love of her life Jerry Miller, who waved to her across the river from Maple Island Dairy. When he asked if she could dance she replied, “ Only if you have the music!” They would dance together as best friends for 62 years. Anna’s life revolved around family, faith and fun. Her devotion to family was defined by her hallmark hospitality and her ability to make each guest the special guest! Her family will miss her gift of gentleness and sincere listening, always finding a positive perspective to the most challenging life experiences. Anna leaves behind a kitchen legacy that includes her signature roast beef dinners, cornflake bars and the famous “dough gods” she taught her grandchildren to make. Anna was a devoted member to Catholic Church communities in both Somerset and Webster. She served in leadership roles in Ladies of St. Anne, Mothers Club and St. John Women’s Club. Whether preparing for a rummage sale, serving a funeral meal, cleaning church or counting receipts she performed her parish duties with joy. Anna will be deeply missed, but richly remembered by all of her family. Anna’s family would like to thank the entire staff and residents of The Arbor Memory Care Unit at Deerfield Senior Living Center for their exemplary care the past four years. They have cared for Anna and supported the family in innumerable ways. Their kindnesses will be remembered always.
