Orene Longsdorf 06/05/2014

Orene B. Longsdorf, age 80 of Pepin, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Pepin Manor Care Center.  She was born the daughter of Arthur and Henrietta (Helgoe) Johnson on January 22, 1934 in Nelson, WI.  She grew up in Nelson and was a graduate of Pepin High School.  On December 30, 1955, Orene was married to Neil Longsdorf at the Little Brown Church in Waukon, Iowa.  They farmed, and Orene owned and operated the Lakeview Inn in Stockholm.  She also ran the Stockholm Cafe and the Waterfront Cafe in Maiden Rock.  Orene was a longtime member of the Maiden Rock American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to Treasure Island.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Henrietta Johnson; husband, Neil Longsdorf; sister, Yvonne Bengtson; and special friend, Dick Krusemark.  Orene is survived by her daughters, Linda (David Olson) Longsdorf, Sue (Mark) Peters, Julie (Paul) Davidson, Jean (Bob) Grab; grandchildren, Angie (Jason) Jahnke, Beth (Chris) Peltier, Ashley (Marcus Peterson) Grab, Megan Grab, Renee (Abe Fick) Grab, Allison (Chad) Andrea, Andrea Davidson; great-grandchildren, Brianna Jahnke, Cody Jahnke, Hailey Jahnke, Forrest Davidson, Tyler Peltier, Brennan Peltier, Owen Peltier, Markus Peltier; siblings, Verle Johnson, Theone (Norbert) Seipel; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.   A memorial service was held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 6:00 pm at Bakken-Young Funeral Home in Maiden Rock.  Visitation was also Tuesday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home.  Arrangements were with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Maiden Rock.
