Ralph “Butch” Schaffer 07/31/2026

Ralph Herbert Schaffer (Butch) died peacefully on July 31, 2026, at the age of 85. Butch was born Sept. 4, 1940 to LaVaughn (Eggers) and Herb Schaffer. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1958. He married Mary Matzek and they had three children. Butch worked 44 years at 3M Chemolite. He was a proud member of the Prescott Fire Department for 28 years. On June 29, 2003 Butch married Lynda Hudak; they were together for 35 years. Lynda passed away unexpectedly in 2022. Butch loved hunting, snowmobiling, being up north, making planes, playing cards, jokes, Pall Malls and Pabst.
Butch is survived by his children Tim (Brenda), Lisa (Mike) Ciesinski, Tom, and stepsons Mark (Jennifer) Hudak, Mike (Missy) Hudak, and Timmy (Amy) Hudak; nine grandchildren, Phillip (Angie), Alex (Shana), Kelley, Drew, Heather, Breanne, Kadyn, Nicole, Taylor; two great grandchildren; Calvin and Conrad: siblings Anita (Dook) Sterud, Sue (John) Moen, Bob (Kathy) Fasbender, Bill (Lori) Fasbender, Joan (Terry) Schommer, Marcia (Steve) Nelson, Lora (Tom) Arndt and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents LaVaughn and Herb Schaffer, and Dr. William Fasbender.
A celebration of life will be held August 10, 2026 at The Old Ptacek’s Event Center, Prescott, Wis from 3 to 6 PM. A burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Prescott Fire Department.
