Debbie Jean Stevens, age 67, of Glenwood City, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with her family by her side.
Debbie was born on February 21, 1959, in Menomonie, Wisconsin, to Frank and Donna (Thompson) Warner. She attended Glenwood City schools and graduated as Valedictorian of the Glenwood City High School Class of 1977.
On July 14th, 1979, Debbie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Gary Stevens. Together they built a wonderful life and raised three beloved daughters: Heather, Holly, and Heidi. Debbie graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Stout in 1980 with a degree in Family and Consumer Education.
Debbie had a passion for teaching and serving her community. She worked with the Glenwood City Community Education program and the Glenwood City School District as a long-term substitute teacher. In 2004, she joined the Somerset School District as a middle school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher, where she inspired and encouraged countless students throughout her career.
Family was the center of Debbie’s life. She treasured time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, four-wheeling, camping, relaxing at the family cabin, and spending time in Florida with loved ones. Debbie and Gary also shared a love of traveling and created many cherished memories together.
Debbie is lovingly remembered by her husband, Gary; her daughters, Heather (Alpha) Greene, Holly (Jonathan) Malack, and Heidi (Greg) Olson; her grandchildren, Grace, Michael, Abel, Genevieve, Oliver, Lucas, and Emma; her mother-in-law, Ramona Stevens; her sisters, Nancy (George) Stutter and Penny Warner; her brother-in-law, Mark (Teresa) Stevens; her sisters-in-law, Connie Warner and Bobbie (Kurt) Johnson; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her cherished four-legged “grandchildren.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Donna (Thompson) Warner; Father-in-law, Ronald Stevens; her brothers, Michael Warner, Bruce Warner, Donnie Warner, and infant brother Frank Jr.; and her sister-in-law, Cindy Warner.
A memorial service for Debbie will be Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 11:00AM at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (728 S Knowles Ave) in New Richmond, Wisconsin and will be live streamed using the link below. A visitation is taking place from 4:00-7:00PM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, also at the funeral home and again on Wednesday starting at 10:00AM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Emerald, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith Family United Church.
Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

I will always remember Debbie as a kind, generous, compassionate, hard-working, and loving person. She was a wonderful mother, grandma, wife, sister, and most of all my dear friend. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Debbie was always such a loving and accepting cousin of mine. I loved her laughter and positive attitude. When our little church in Deer Park closed she helped me acquire a memorandum my brother Darrin had made which I didn’t have the chance to get it from her. I am saddened to hear of her passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all💝❤️🩹
My time with Debbie was through 4-H, goats and GC School !! She always brought laughter and joy to our time together – love for kids and animals !! She was a spiritual person that I knew shared the love of God along w me !! And now she is with her Savior – prayers for the family through this difficult journey ! 💗
I am so sorry to hear this. Debbie was such a kind soul with an infectious laugh and lovely smile. She was always a helpful coworker who cared for all the students with whom she worked. She will be missed.
