
Robert M. Condon, 96, died peacefully on Monday September 30, 2024. Bob lived a long, successful life. Bob was born on December 20, 1927 in a farm house in rural Chippewa County Minnesota. Bob’s family moved to Raymond, Minnesota in 1938 to open Condon’s Meat Market. Bob always said that Condon’s Meat Market made the best Mettwurst in the Midwest. Bob graduated from Raymond High School in 1945, was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1947, and graduated from St. John’s University in 1951. Bob was a long-time businessman who worked for International Harvester, General Motors, Doughboy, MRM Elgin, and finally as an independent financial advisor in New Richmond.
Bob will be remembered for his love of reading. He recorded the number of books he read along with each title in one of the many journals he kept. He will be remembered for his love of the Vikings and all the other Minnesota sports teams. He will be remembered for his volunteerism in the New Richmond area for Meals on Wheels, The Red Cross, and Westfield Hospital. Bob will be remembered for being a dedicated blood donor, for serving on the New Richmond Fire and Police Commission, and for reading to elementary students. He will also be remembered for his passionate Catholic faith and membership at Immaculate Conception Church in New Richmond.
Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Dee, sister Peggy Horky and her husband Roger, sister Mary Lou Schorn and her husband Jake, Joanne Schmitt and her husband Earl and brother-in-Law Pat Boyle. Bob leaves behind brother Gene Condon, Sister-in-Law Kay and husband Denny Marcussen, brother-in-Law Leo Boyle and his wife Twyla , and sister-in-Law Melva Boyle. Bob also leaves behind his four children: son Terry and wife Sue; son Tim and his wife Nancy; daughter Kathy and Son-in-Law Scott; daughter Peggy and her husband Andy. Bob was also a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He cherished his family.
The family of Bob would like to thank and express the sincerest gratitude to the nurses and staff at the Deerfield Retirement and Care Center in New Richmond. Bob was a resident of The Deerfield for eight years. He called The Deerfield his home, and he loved coffee time and the companionship of the other residents. The staff provided amazing care and comfort during his last days.
Please join the family in honoring Bob’s life on Friday, November 15th, 2024. The service will take place at The Deerfield. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with a service starting at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bob can be made to The Deerfield Library or checks mailed to Friday Memorial Library – Friends of the Library, 155 East 1st Street, New Richmond, WI 54017. Bob’s remains will be interred next to Dee’s at the Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, Wisconsin.
