Joann Martinsen

Joann Martinsen, age 83, of Somerset, Wisconsin passed away on November 3, 2023, at Cerenity Care Center in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She was born on May 12, 1940, to Joe and Eleanor (Wolters) Langanki in Clearwater Township, Wright, Minnesota.

Joann met Gerald Vita Martinsen and the two married on June 13, 1970. Joann and Gerald were active members at St. Anne’s Catholic Church and helped with funeral lunches. The Martinsen Family owned and operated the Somerset Telephone Company for 50 years. Joann was a bookkeeper at Somerset Telephone. Joann enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. She also liked to make memories while traveling to places like Alaska, China, and Antarctica.

Joann was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Gerald Martinsen; brothers, Don Langanki, and Colin Langnki; sister, Dolores Miller; brother-in-law, Duane Martinsen; and nephews John Hauglum and Aaron Brust.

She is survived by her children, Ruth (Josh) Grubbs, and Duane Martinsen; sister, Mildred Miller; niece, Lou Ann Miller; and nephew Bruce Miller; sister in law Donna Langanki; nephew, Dan Langanki; and niece, Dawn Marie Hoium; brother in law, Victor (Elaine) Martinsen; nieces and nephews, Peter Hauglum, Anne Christine Wornstaff, Paul (Michelle) Hauglum, Ann Marie Martinsen, Nancy (Steve) Holt, Karen Martinsen, Sarah Martinsen also great nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was held on Saturday November 11, 2023, at St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Somerset, Wisconsin.
