Orlyn Traaseth “OT”

Orlyn Peter Traaseth “OT”, age 78, born in Bagley, MN passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on February 26, 2019 due to congestive respiratory failure.

OT Graduated from Bagley High School in 1958; completed basic training at the Great Lakes Naval Base in IL and trained at the U.S. Naval Air Corp. in  Memphis, TN. He served as an Aviation Machinist mate (ADJ 3rd Class) on the USS Hancock aircraft carrier from 1958-1964. He spent much of his life in the trucking industry later retiring from Lakeside Foods in 2004 and Phillips Plastics in 2014. He was baptised and confirmed at Clearwater Lutheran Church Shevlin, MN and a member of First Lutheran Church New Richmond, WI and also a member of the American Legion and Teamsters Union.

You could always find him on the golf course or gardening with his grandkids; enjoying the outdoors with his children, hunting and fishing; had a passion for watching birds especially the Cardinals; loved his pets over the years; enjoyed being with his many friends; watching all sports, rooting for his Vikings and happy when the Packers lost; old westerns were a favorite (John Wayne was his hero).

Survived by his loving wife of 38 years Sandra Traaseth (Hendricks); sons Steven and Bradley of New Richmond, WI, Patrick (Sandy) of Siren, WI; daughter Laura Lee (Randy) Halverson of Lengby, MN; stepdaughters Kerri (Bill) Casey and Kelly (Jasen) Pomroy of New Richmond, WI; 41 great, great great and step grandchildren; sisters Agnetta (Roger) Person of Sioux Falls, SD and Gladys (Albert) Luecken of Bagley, MN; many cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and an uncle. Preceded in death by his parents Goodwin and Bernice (Nygaard) Traaseth, ex-wife Connie Hanson and son Ronald.

Orlyn was a loving, loyal, generous, compassionate man and will be sorely missed. Thank you to the entire Lakeview Hospice team, especially the nurses for their compassionate care and to the entire Westfields medical personnel.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11 AM, visitation for one hour prior, at First Lutheran Church, 218 County Road K, New Richmond, WI with Military Honors at the New Richmond Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the church.
