Roger Flatland

Roger Wayne Flatland, age 80, of New Richmond, Wisconsin passed away on October 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 14, 1938 in Sand Creek, WI to Melvin and Adeline (Davis) Flatland. He was a graduate of Hammond High School and went on to serve in the National Guard. Roger was married to Shirley Shefland July 20, 1957. They went on to have 6 children and settled in New Richmond, WI. He worked most of his life in the construction field. Roger loved his family and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He recently mentioned that his favorite memory in life was marrying his wife Shirley.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley; parents, Melvin and Adeline Flatland; grandson, Gregory Flatland; sisters, Priscilla Flatland, Janice Jacobson, Dixie Roberts and Bonnie Johnson; father and mother-in-law, Rueben and Alice Shefland; brother-in-law, John Shefland.

Roger is survived by his children, Wesley Flatland, Jonathan Flatland, Michael Flatland (Tracy Connell), Tammy (Paul) Wood, Kim (Lausen) Canopy and Rodney Flatland (Cindy Rotering). Grandchildren, Jodi (Paul) Riehl, Samantha Flatland, Anthony Flatland, Tracy (Jason) Stark, Amanda (Brennen) Dulon, Justina Connell, Kayla Rettner (Justin Jenson), Brian (Kellyjo) Wood, Nicole Shade, Abby Canopy and Emma Flatland; 16 great grandchildren. Sisters, Mary (Dennis) Thorsen, and Melody Geving; sister-in-law, Jackie (Robert) Martin; brother-in-law, Gene (Peg) Shefland; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 PM on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home in New Richmond. Celebration of life to be held after the visitation service at Erin Corners. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family.
