Lawrence (Larry) Zimmerman
Age 88 of New Richmond, Wisconsin Larry died peacefully of congestive heart failure on Sunday May 15, 2011 at the St. Croix Health Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 14, 1923 in Westphalia, Iowa to Emil and Josephine (Posch) Zimmerman. He attended and graduated from St. Boniface High School in Westpalia, Iowa. Larry played and coached baseball in Westphalia for 16 years. He was married to Theresa Goeser in St. Joseph’s Church in Earling, Iowa on February 16, 1953. Larry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a farmer, welder and an inventor. He was an honorary lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Shelby County Agricultural Extension Council. He took first place in the 23rd annual Inventors Congress and Agriculture Implements. Larry took pride in that he was granted six U S Patents for his inventions. Larry was most recognized for the Zimmie-Stacker Haying Equipment. He enjoyed camping, fishing and watching his children and grandchildren in their various sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marie; brothers, Roman, Barney, Jack, Father Anthony and Father Al. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa of 58 years; children, Ed (Marilyn) of New Richmond, Mary Perner of Black River Falls, Tony (Vicki) of New Richmond, Amy (Brian) Smith of Somerset; sisters, Betty (Vern) Gaul of Earling, Iowa, Ann (John) Gaul of Omaha, Nebraska, Sister Irene Zimmerman of Milwaukee; 13 grandchildren; 1 step granddaughter, 1 great grand daughter and 4 step great grandchildren also many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday May 19, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in New Richmond, Wisconsin. Visitation 4-8 PM Wednesday may 18, 2011 at the Cullen Crea Funeral Home and also one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to St. Mary’s School. Interment parish cemetery.
