Leona Beatrice (Hinz) Berget peacefully entered Heaven surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Leona was born July 23, 1934 to Albert Leo and Hattie (Potting) Hinz. She was raised on the family farm. After graduating from Osceola High School she worked at the River’s Edge where she met the man who would become her husband. On April 6th, 1957, she married Franklin DeJerome Berget. They made their home in New Richmond where they raised five children. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and their accomplishments. She never missed attending activities that her children were involved in. She listened to them read while she washed dishes and practice their musical instruments; taught them how to dance in the kitchen, play ‘kings in the corner’, sing harmony, and to appreciate seeing the first robin of spring.
She enjoyed being a Homemaker. When her children were older, she worked for the New Richmond School District Food Service Department.
She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She loved them all dearly. Through the years she selflessly cared for many family members without disrupting the endless responsibilities of her own home.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Franklin ”Jerry”; sons, Jerry Berget of New Richmond, Scott Berget of Richfield, MN, Brad Berget (Kristen) of Woodbury, MN, Brian Berget (Kimberly) of Weston, WI and daughter Lynn Neuman (Chris) of New Richmond; sister, Connie Belisle of New Richmond; ten grandchildren, Shallyn (Joe) Simma, Michelle (Jake) Simma, Samantha Berget, Jerrod Berget, Jordan Berget, Jade Berget, Brennan Berget, Connor Berget, Peter (Laura) Neuman and John Neuman; along with many friends and relatives. Welcoming her Home were her parents, Leo and Hattie; sisters, Cecilia and Priscilla; brothers, Paul and Leroy. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church New Richmond, Wisconsin. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
