Mary Margaret (Scott) Sullivan, age 77, of New Richmond, WI, passed away June 16, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on April 26, 1936, in Boscobel, WI, to parents Charles Kenneth Scott, Jr. and Ellen Rose McDermott Scott. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles “Mac” Scott and niece Mary Kay Scott. Mary is survived by her husband of 50 years, Timothy John Sullivan, children Patricia Ellen (Amere) Watkins of Minneapolis, MN, Timothy Charles Sullivan of New Richmond, Colleen Mary (Kurt) Rasmussen of Cottage Grove, MN, John Raymond Sullivan of Cushing, WI, and Bridget Esther (John) Edwards of New Richmond; Grandchildren Amere Watkins II (Meghan), Christian Sullivan, Brianna Sullivan, Nicholas Rasmussen, Alyson Sullivan, Madelaine Sullivan and Brenna Sullivan; Great-grandchild Olyvia Watkins; Sister Esther Wentz of New Richmond, Sister-In-Laws Rosemary Springer of New Richmond and Beverly Scott of Shorewood, WI, and Brother-In-Law Norman Sullivan of Harrison, AR and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary attended Immaculate Conception School in Boscobel and was graduated from St. Mary’s in New Richmond in 1950 and New Richmond High School in 1954. She received a B.S. degree in Secondary Education from Wisconsin State College—Eau Claire (now University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire). She also attended the University of Minnesota. Mary taught English and Speech at Hudson High School for six years and at Glenwood City. She was a volunteer and substitute teacher at St. Mary’s in New Richmond for 26 years. Mary was a loyal supporter of St. Mary’s and very proud of her five generations of family graduates. She also worked with the confirmation program at Immaculate Conception in New Richmond for 13 years. Mary was a Girl Scout leader for 13 years and a Cub Scout leader. She served as an IC Parish Council member and secretary for six years, as a greeter and communion distributor, was past leader of the Altar Society, St. Mary’s Home & School group, on St. Mary’s School Board, leader of a funeral dinner group for 40 years and did outreach and card ministry for many years. Mary served on the local Cable Board, was an election inspector for many years and Secretary of the Police and Fire Commission for the City of New Richmond for 18 years. She was a volunteer at the New Richmond Heritage Center including the Cyclone Centennial and September Heritage Days. With her husband she was active with the Knights of Columbus. Twice she was named “Woman of the Year” and with her family was “Family of the Year” for the Superior Diocese. She loved sports, especially following the KC softball teams and her children’s and grandchildren’s sports. Camping, traveling, vacationing, holiday decorating, crafts, reading, participating in the St. Patrick’s Day parade, crocheting and doing things with her children and their families kept her active. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, nana, aunt (Mimi) and friend. Mary will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Her family takes comfort in celebrating a life well-lived and her remarkable legacy. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Thursday, June 20, at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH in New Richmond, WI. Visitation 4-7 PM Wednesday, June 19 at the CULLEN CREA FUNERAL HOME, New Richmond, WI and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment in the church cemetery.
