Pauline B. Germain, age 92, passed away peacefully October 24, 2016 at the St. Croix Health Center in New Richmond, WI., surrounded by loving family. Pauline was born in rural Somerset to George and Mary Cloutier. After high school graduation, her marriage to Urban Germain took place September 23, 1944. Pauline and Urban celebrated 66 years of marriage until Urban’s passing in 2011. Pauline greatly cherished spending time with her family, 18 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Pauline’s children include Rosalind (Dick) Kelly- North St. Paul, John (Renee)-Medford, WI., Dan (Jeanne)-Eau Claire, WI., Joel -Amery, WI., Ted(Jeanne)-Somerset, WI., Tim(Julie)-Somerset, WI., Paul(Felicia)-Somerset, WI., and Jeff(Jennifer)-Somerset, WI. Grandchildren include Gene, Marcus, Nathan, Amanda, April, Kelly, Josie, Tucker, Holly, Gavin, Cole, Taylor, Preston, Dante, Spencer, Brooklynn, Isabelle and Matthew. Great-Grandchildren include Madison, Jonny, Nick, Jack, Ian, Kiera, Layla, Hunter, Louise and Sophia.
Pauline was preceded in death by husband Urban, infant son Charles, father George Cloutier, mother Mary Cloutier, sisters Myrtle LeMire and Gertrude (Wes) Burns, brothers Clarence (Ruella), Percy (Irene), Everett (Adeline), and Larry (Delores) and infant grandson Casey Germain. Pauline and Urban raised eight children on a rural Somerset farm where they loved hosting friends and relatives. Pauline loved to cook and openly welcomed everyone for a meal.
Pauline and Urban enjoyed playing cards and spending time at their lot on the Apple River swimming and fishing with the family. Their travels brought them to Europe, Las Vegas, Hawaii, California, Florida and Canada. Pauline was a very loving, kind, gentle and unselfish woman. In her later years she enjoyed life at the St. Croix Health Center. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the St. Croix Health Center for their wonderful care.
A celebration of Pauline’s life will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Somerset, WI. on Saturday October 29th. Visitation @ 10:00am, funeral services @ 11:00am and a cemetery service immediately following ending with a luncheon.
