Lloyd Gray 04/26/2025

Lloyd Gray, age 87, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Comforts of Home (The Lodge) in River Falls, WI.
Lloyd Vernon Gray was born on April 19, 1938, in Elk River, MN, the seventh of eleven children to Glen & Helen (Beck) Gray.
He graduated from Elk River High School in 1956, where he was a 3-sport athlete (football, basketball and track). He held the record for 100-yard dash (10.2 seconds) for 17 years.
He went on to attend St. Cloud Teachers College, graduating in 1961- also running track there for three years.
He taught social studies and physical education at high schools in Clinton, MN and Karlstad, MN.
In 1967 he was united in marriage to Carol Rasmussen in Balsam Lake, WI. They resided in Abbotsford, WI, where Lloyd taught elementary physical education. While living in Abbotsford, their children Patti and Peter were born.
In 1974 they moved to River Falls, WI, where Lloyd worked for T.O. Plastics in Hudson, WI until the company moved out of state. Lloyd then worked at the Kinnic Home and part-time at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course until his retirement.
Lloyd loved to golf and spent many hours on the course. He also liked to follow the MN Twins, Gophers and Vikings and the local high school and college teams. Attending his grandchildren’s sporting events was a bonus. He and Carol enjoyed road trips, especially during the winter months, and they usually included some stops at golf courses.
During his dementia journey, a hidden gift was discovered: his beautiful tenor voice. Songs/hymns from long ago were his forte and he was willing to share with anyone.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Donald, Stan, George, David, Glen Robert; and sisters: Eleanor, Crystal, Harriet, and Ruth.
He is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Patti (Dean) Kamrath; son, Peter (Jaclyn Anderson) Gray; grandchildren: Adam, Britta, and Carlie Kamrath; brother: Mark (Janet); many nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Lloyd’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11 am at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services 805 E Division Street River Falls, WI. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls. Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.
