Elizabeth Dressler O4/27/2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Lund Dressler, affectionately known as Betsy, who left us on April 27, 2025, at the age of 82. Born on August 31, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, Betsy was a beloved member of her community in River Falls, where she shared her love for books as a dedicated librarian at the River Falls Library and also operated her own bookstore.

Known for her kind and generous spirit, Betsy touched the lives of many through her passion for reading and her eagerness to help others discover the joy of poetry, music and literature. She volunteered as a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation volunteer, at an animal shelter and as a hospice volunteer. She wrote and enjoyed poetry, attended writing and music jam sessions with her friends, was a Frank Lloyd Wright aficionado, loved to get into deep philosophical discussions on just about any topic, loved all animals especially horses, bald eagles, cats and dogs, and took many beautiful pictures as a self-taught photographer. She met and spoke with many strangers but always parted as friends. She was an avid supporter of the local community and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Betsy is survived by her sister, Susan (Susie) Dressler, who will forever cherish their memories together. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Philip Dressler.

Betsy will be remembered fondly by her many, many friends, and her spirit will continue to live on through the countless books she loved and the hearts she touched.

Her ashes will be scattered at a place of beauty, honoring her love for nature and the tranquility it brought her.

We encourage everyone to read their favorite book or recite a poem or possibly plant a tree in her honor any of which would be a fitting tribute to a woman who devoted her life to the written word and the benefit of the world.

Arrangements are with Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services.

As a long time neighbor of Betsy’s, I totally enjoyed her tales of her life and adventures. It was fun to listen to her.
